3/10/93: SPACE STATION REDESIGN SUBJECT OF GOLDIN SPEECH

NOTE TO EDITORS: N93-10
NASA formally kicks off the presidentially-mandated redesign of the
space station this week. NASA Administrator Daniel S. Goldin will broadly
outline some of the basic elements of the redesign process in a speech to be
given Wednesday, March 10, at the American Astronautical Society-Goddard
Memorial Symposium being held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Crystal City,
Arlington, Va.
Goldin is the featured luncheon speaker at the AAS conference and will
make his address at noon EST. The event will be recorded for video tape-delay
broadcast on NASA Select television at approximately 3 p.m. EST.
The first formal meeting of the Space Station Redesign Team will be
held today when NASA will kick off the redesign effort with meetings of top
agency managers and center directors, congressional leaders and international
partners.
On Thursday, March 11, Goldin will lead a press briefing at 1 p.m. EST
to discuss the details of the redesign process. He will be joined by senior
NASA officials involved in the space station redesign.
The press briefing will be carried live on NASA Select television from
the auditorium located on the lobby level of the new NASA Headquarters
building, 300 E Street, S.W., Washington, D.C.
